The CLEP Exam in Calculus

In order for people to prove how proficient they are in calculus at the undergraduate level, the College Board set up the Calculus exam, which is popular with many students hoping to join colleges. This is due to the fact that the CLEP exam makes it possible to skip some college entry exams, as many colleges give credit for it.

A half of the Calculus exam involves students in using calculus techniques in solving routine problems. In the other half of the test, students will need to use the calculus techniques in solving problems that are not routine.

The Calculus exam is basically divided into three sections, which are 55% - differential calculus, 40% - integral calculus, and 5% - limits.

Under this last section, you should be conversant with these topics: properties' statements, continuity, and limits involving infinity.

Under the differential calculus section, the topics taken include derivatives & their applications.

In the integral section, you will deal with ant derivatives & integration techniques; applications of ant derivatives; the definite integral, as well as its various applications.

The forty-five multiple-choice questions require a maximum of ninety minutes to complete. An unofficial score report will be released after the exams that has a scale of between 20 and 80. Since you need to score at least 50 in order to qualify, you will need to answer all questions. Leaving a question unanswered is synonymous to getting it wrong. There are some pre-test questions that do not add to the raw score, and you will not quite detect which ones they are, another important reason for answering all the questions asked. These pre-test questions are used in the development of later exams.

If you would like to register for the Calculus exam, you should visit the College Board's website. The Calculus exams may be taken in either computer format or on paper, from many locations worldwide.
